We need food for our daily life. It is essential for us to live, grow and to be productive. But how about our spiritual life? We need to feed our spirits just the same not with materialistic food but with spiritual food so that we may understand God more and that we may be nearer to Him. And with that, here are 7 lessons that food taught us for our spiritual health.
Glorify God in everything
We must be thankful to God for everything. He gave us all blessings and is the only reason why we are still living. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (NIV).
God will be our provider
Do not worry every time you are short on provisions for God will give you the things that you will need. God is able to give you your blessings, just as Psalms 107:9 said “For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things”(NIV). and just like that all your needs will be fulfilled.
God is able to make miracles
Our God is powerful enough to separate seas. He is powerful enough to bring someone back to life. He is also powerful enough to feed thousands of people. Luke 9:16-17 told us “Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over”.(NIV).
We are all brothers and sisters
We are all equal in the eyes of God. We are all His children and we should all cooperate and live together peacefully. Different colors of skin or races does not separate us from the eyes of our God Almighty. Romans 14:3 commanded us “The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.”(NIV).
Have faith in God
We can never go through heaven except through God alone. We need to believe in the power of God and follow Him in everything we do. Even though we make mistakes, we need to strive to be worthy. John 6:35 said that “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”(NIV).
We are not here to live contentedly but to spread the word of God to everyone. We should follow His directions and gather disciples for His glory. All things here on earth will vanish, but God is eternal. 1 Timothy 6:7-8 said “For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”(NIV).
God wants us to have eternal life
There is no greater feeling than being with God in heaven. God also wants everyone to join Him but there is a huge gap between us. We must strive to follow Him so that we can be in His presence. John 6:27 told us “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”(NIV)
